Darren O. Boothe (born September 14, 1982),
better known by his stage name Reese Badda
is a Jamaican Dancehall Artiste residing in
Brampton, Ontario - Canada. Reese’s debut
mixtape, “Welcome to di Future” was released on
his birthday of 2010 as a sign of Reese Badda’s
birth to the world of music. Released as a free
download, it has been a huge success for Reese
with downloads in astonishing numbers and
continued support from his fans.
Born in Port Antonio, Portland Jamaica, Reese was
raised on Love Lane, a popular meeting ground
in the heart of the city which taught him a lot
of life’s lessons from a tender age. However, the
separation of his parents caused him to travel to
and from Canada and Jamaica on a regular basis
as a youth.
Reese’s first true introduction to dancehall music
was through a Buju Banton cassette which he
received from a record shop in 1994. The tape
featured tracks such as ‘Murderer’ and ‘Deportee’
among others. From that moment on he fell in
love with the Dancehall music genre. Musical
influences also came from Bounty Killer and
Beenie Man, Mavado and Vybz Kartel. All of who
Reese now considers to be industry leaders and
key competitors as he makes his way into the
Dancehall Industry.
Other influences include his cousin who ran a
nightclub in Port Antonio (Club Lexus), which
Reese would frequent as a youth. At times he
would sneak his way into the events when money
was short or the entertainment wasn`t deemed
appropriate for young Reese. This raw and
uncensored lifestyle allowed the dancehall culture
to form roots within Reese, while the travel back
and forth gave him a different outlook on the
world as he lived through drastic changes.
Reese listens to music almost 24 hours a day,
whether he’s creating it or during his daily hustling
as if it were a soundtrack to his life. He made a
decision in 2009 to take his musical love/talent to
another level, bringing his story to the world! A
story of many trials and tribulations, hustling, fun
and excitement, love and pain.
Rather than aiming to secure a big recording
deal with a Big company such as VP or Island
Def Jam, Reese Badda has founded Yardcore
Entertainment; an independent label which
represents his Reese Badda brand 100% on a
mission is to supply Dancehall music to the world
with a unique flavor, from a perspective that that
has never been truly delivered. Yardcore strives
to create a Canadian presence in the Dancehall
industry while remaining true to it’s Jamaican
roots.
Reese has his sights set on the mainstream and
his fans are backing him 110%. With his vision,
hustle, talents and business sense, Reese is a
